We went camping in Wallowa Lake State Park for Labor Day Weekend! It’s in Oregon, and isn’t far from where Mommy went to middle school and high school. She always talks about this place, so I finally decided that we had to go check it out.
We got there on Friday night, but it was late so we went right to sleep. On Saturday morning we went exploring. On our walk, we came across a deer.
I’ve never been this close to a deer, so I was definitely squealing quite a bit.
I think my squealing interrupted his eating. Sorry…we’ll move on.
We spent some time watching the boats on the lake. It was a gorgeous day!
When we went back to our campsite, it was nap time for me. Mommy and Daddy played a card game. (Notice how tired they look…they claim that I woke up before the sunrise, didn’t really take naps, and stayed up way too late. I say that I just wanted to enjoy every minute of camping!)
After lunch, we went on a walk into town. On our way we stopped to take a picture at the state park sign.
Daddy and I went off-roading to check out the river.
Oops…Daddy pushed me a little too far and I was stuck on the edge of the rock.
I wasn’t worried, though. Daddy is always there to save the day!
We saw a giant chair, but there was no way I was getting in that thing by myself. So Daddy climbed up with me for a fun picture.
Then Mommy and Daddy taught me how to lick an ice cream cone. There’s no going back now!
Success!
I helped Daddy burn off some of the calories from his ice cream by making him be my horsey.
It took me awhile to remember that I had to hold on, but once I did…
…off we went!
Once we got back to the campsite, Mommy and Daddy were THRILLED to find that they could listen to the WSU vs. Auburn football game on the radio (they were somehow able to tune in a station from Pullman)! So, while they entertained themselves with the game, I entertained myself with the dirt.
I was a very dirty, but very happy, little girl. (By the way, did you notice my belly button?)
On Sunday we woke up and walked to the lake.
We found a small stream by the lake that I enjoyed playing in.
When we weren’t exploring the area, I got to play with the boy at the campsite next door.
On Monday morning, it was raining when we woke up so we pulled out our sweatshirts.
I was a big helper to Daddy while we were packing up. He pulled out the tent stakes, and I ran away with them. Perfect!
We had such a fun weekend, and I know why Mommy loves this place so much. I can’t wait to go back!
