My Fifth Birthday Party (Mermaids!!)

Story told by: Lainey

When Mommy asked me what I wanted the theme of my fifth birthday party to be, I knew right away that it had to be mermaids! I got to invite some of my closest girlfriends over for a fun afternoon.

I had the perfect mermaid outfit to wear for the party.

We transformed our house into the sea!

We also had fun mermaid-related food!

Instead of cupcakes, we decided to do pudding cups that looked like the beach.

Before my friends arrived I got a picture with Mommy and Daddy.

Stella and her Mommy drove down from Spokane early so that we would have to time to visit (and so that Stella’s mommy could help put up decorations). We got to test out the photo booth ahead of time.

We were also food-sneaking mermaids hiding under the table.

When my friends arrived we filled up our plates with mermaid food.

The coral was very sour, and even though it appeared to cause Henry discomfort, he insisted on continuing to eat it (and then asked for more). Weird kid.

Then my friends and I had fun with the photo booth.

After pictures, we had a freeze dance party!

Then we got to work on some fun mermaid crafts.

We got to color mermaid magnets.

We got to make mermaid necklaces (and thank goodness for a few extra adults who stayed to help with this craft).

Na Na gets to be here for my birthday party weekend, and I’ve loved having her here!

Modeling my necklace.

Henry worked extra hard at beading his necklace.

Mirabel requested a picture as well so she could model her necklace.

There were mermaids into which we could scratch designs.

And the final craft station had some fun mermaid coloring sheets.

After crafts we got to play Pin the Flower on the Mermaid.

That’s my purple flower on there! I did really well! (By the way, I colored that mermaid and I’m very proud of it. I spent a lot of time on the details.)

The finished product. We had fun cheering each other on!

After that game we got to sing “Happy Birthday” to me.

Henry couldn’t have the pudding, so he got one of his special cupcakes with an umbrella.

Brody finally woke up from his nap, so he got to hang out with Na Na.

And time for my favorite part….presents!!!

A picture with my great group of friends who came to celebrate with me! Thank you so much for a wonderful party!!

I’m also so glad that Na Na got to be here to celebrate with me!

While we waited for parents to arrive we played one final game.

We ended the party with the release of the balloons and a dance party. I had such an amazing time. I later told Daddy that “this was my favorite and best party I’ve ever had!”
