My 18-Month Appointment

Story told by: Henry

I had a great 18-month appointment today!

When I arrived, I had my measurements taken. While we waited for the nurse to bring in my stats, I got right to work with climbing and exploring.

After two minutes of climbing and exploring, I entertained Brody by giving him a hug. (Yep, this is how I hug him. I lay my head on him. Everyone does that, right?)

The nurse brought in my measurements…

Height: 34 1/4 inches (95th percentile) – (Lainey was 34 inches)

Weight: 30 pounds, 12 ounces (100th percentile) – (Lainey was 25 pounds, 11 ounces)

Head Circumference: 20 1/2 inches (100th percentile) – (Lainey was 20 inches)

After the nurse brought in my measurements, we had to wait a very long time because Dr. Mike was running behind. No worries, though! I kept myself busy.

While Mommy was feeding Brody, I took apart the diaper bag.

What granola bar? I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Oops. I dropped the granola bar in the drawer.

Maybe I can scale this cabinet to get to the granola bar.

Nope, that didn’t work. Mom, please help.

Next up was climbing in the stroller.

That was fun until I got stuck. Mom, please help.

Meanwhile, Brody happily hung out. Like always.

Back up on the chairs. I was trying to jump back and forth between the chairs, but I fell in between the chairs and got stuck. (Mommy didn’t get any pictures of this because I was screaming and she needed to help me.)

And I FINALLY wore Mommy down enough that she let me play with this germ-infested toy. She seemed happy that I actually sat down for more than two minutes.

After patiently waiting like the sweet, angelic boy that I am, Dr. Mike arrived! I was very nervous when he came into the room. (Dr. Mike says this nervousness is very normal for the 18-month appointment because we’re very smart and remember that this office is associated with shots.) After checking me out, Dr. Mike says that I’m a big, but healthy boy! I got one quick shot, but was quickly appeased by a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sticker. See you for my two-year appointment!
