Story told by: Henry
I am a big brother now! My little brother, Brody Thomas, was born at 8:29 a.m. this morning, weighs 10 pounds, 2 ounces, and is 21 1/2 inches long. Big boy!
This was Mommy’s belly last night at 39 weeks pregnant.
Mommy and Daddy had to get to the hospital at 5:30 a.m., and the C-Section started at 8 a.m.
Dr. Minudri brought Brody over for Mommy and Daddy to have their first look!
While Mommy finished getting stitched up, Brody was wiped off and weighed. We know Brody’s lungs are working well because he yelled through most of this.
After he was mostly clean, Brody came back to snuggle with Mommy and Daddy.
Once Mommy was stitched up, everyone headed back to the room to recover. Brody got his first bath.
Brody has more hair than either Lainey or myself had as newborns.
He was so big that he wouldn’t fit in any of the newborn clothes Mommy brought to the hospital. Fortunately she had one “0-3 months” outfit that was supposed to be his going-home outfit, but it fit him perfectly.
Mommy and Brody got in some snuggle time.
Brody has been a pretty good eater. In fact, he wants to nurse for an hour and a half at a time! He’s got to maintain his lovely figure. (Mommy was feeling pretty nauseous from the medicines from the operating room, so the nurses were keeping her forehead cool and giving her anti-nausea medicine.)
After everyone was settled, Nana brought me and Lainey to the hospital. Lainey was very excited to meet Brody!
You don’t see me in any of these pictures because all I could focus on was getting to the graham crackers that Mommy was eating. Priorities.
Lainey decided to share Brody with Na Na as well.
Right now we’re having lots of fun with Na Na at our house, but we’re also excited to have Brody come home in a couple of days!
Our favorite certified nursing assistant, Bonnie, made an appearance! She helped so much when I was born, as well as when Lainey was born. She wasn’t going to work today because it is her birthday, but when she found out we were coming (and that Brody was going to be her birthday buddy), she picked up an afternoon shift for us. She’s just the best!
