Thanksgiving, 2014

Story told by: Henry

Today was my first Thanksgiving, and I loved it! We started the day with Na Na’s cinnamon rolls. Yum!

Then I sadly had to take a nap, but everyone else got to enjoy the parade. (I was able to catch the second half, though.)

Lainey had a lot of fun watching the balloons, dancers, and marching bands. This girl was in heaven!

Once I woke up, we watched the parade while having snacks with Na Na.

Then it was time to start the turkey! I’ve been hearing about this delicious turkey, so I couldn’t wait!

While Thanksgiving prep was happening, Lainey and I played with Ba Ba.

And after hours of waiting, Thanksgiving dinner was finally ready!

I started with devouring mashed potatoes.

And then I inhaled cranberry jelly.

After that I ate an entire roll, turkey, stuffing, and green bean casserole.

This is my kind of holiday!

After a delicious dinner, we went downstairs to watch the Seahawks’ game. I watched with my best football-watching partner.

While the game was going on, Lainey and Na Na planned out their Black Friday shopping plans.

Mommy made a delicious pie for dessert. I missed out on this because I had to go to bed, but everyone tells me it was delicious!

After dessert, Lainey insisted everyone was still hungry, so she made another meal for Na Na and Ba Ba.

My baby brother or sister is quickly growing, so we got a picture of Mommy’s belly at 16 weeks.

After eating lots of food, Na Na and Lainey were exhausted, so Ba Ba treated them to a foot rub. What a good guy!

The final event of the night was our first year of reading “The Elf on the Shelf!” Lainey named the elf “Elf.” (She tried to name it “Daddy,” but she was told that it couldn’t have the same name as anyone else in our house.)

While reading the book, Lainey learned that Elf will fly back to the North Pole every night to report on her behavior to Santa. Lainey and I can’t touch the elf because he might lose his magic. Santa won’t let Elf talk to us, but we can tell Elf all of our wishes for Christmas. Each morning he’ll fly back to our house and land in a different spot. It’s our job each morning to find his new location! We’re quite excited.

Overall, it was a great Thanksgiving! Any holiday that involves letting me eat a lot of food is one great holiday!
