Cardinals Game!!

Story told by Lainey

We got to go to a St. Louis Cardinals game today! It was the first Cardinals game for both me and Henry. I was so excited that I’ve been talking about this nonstop for the past couple of days!

20140531-225040-82240585.jpg

We drove downtown and parked in the garage. I made sure to wear my best Cardinals gear and bring my backpack full of activities.

20140531-225040-82240897.jpg

20140531-225143-82303169.jpg

Busch Stadium! It’s about time someone brought me here!

20140531-225143-82303486.jpg

Henry didn’t look quite as thrilled to be there, but in his defense it was 90 degrees and incredibly humid.

20140531-225143-82303776.jpg

Inside the stadium! Mommy loves this place!!

20140531-225256-82376708.jpg

20140531-225257-82377021.jpg

Henry fell asleep on our way into the stadium and slept until the fifth inning.

20140531-225257-82377332.jpg

I got to eat some yummy stadium food. Of course I just wanted to use the fries to eat ketchup. Mommy was sure happy she spent $12 on this meal for me.

20140531-225417-82457431.jpg

While Henry slept, she had to stand a few rows up with him, so I played with Grandma and Grandpa. We had lots of fun together (while they caught snippets of the game).

20140531-234429-85469395.jpg

20140531-225418-82458277.jpg

Then the clouds moved in and it started raining. Boo.

20140531-234717-85637596.jpg

No one was happy about the rain delay.

20140531-234717-85637946.jpg

20140531-234718-85638308.jpg

I entertained myself with some coloring.

20140531-234718-85638668.jpg

But then the thunder and lightning really picked up, so I decided that I should probably be near Grandma just in case she got scared.

20140531-225638-82598637.jpg

The rain finally stopped and Henry woke up, so he came to sit with Grandma.

20140531-225638-82598958.jpg

He yelled at some Giants fans sitting near us.

20140531-225639-82599569.jpg

Then he proceeded to stare them down.

20140531-225639-82599261.jpg

20140531-225735-82655853.jpg

This kid is a true Cardinals fan.

20140531-225736-82656151.jpg

When I wasn’t watching the game, I entertained myself with stickers.

20140531-225914-82754915.jpg

Mommy and I also took some silly pictures together.

20140531-225915-82755074.jpg

20140531-225915-82755412.jpg

Then it was time for the clouds to roll in again and let loose. A second rain delay.

20140531-225915-82755722.jpg

Mommy and I had to run to the bathroom, so I got a little wet in the pouring rain. Since the game had been going for three hours now and we were only in the sixth inning (and on our second rain delay), we decided to leave to meet everyone at Uncle Dave’s house for dinner. We were able to finish watching the game there and the Cardinals won! Yay!

20140531-225916-82756416.jpg

Samantha and I had more time to play while Uncle Dave made some incredible burgers!

20140531-225916-82756654.jpg

Henry and Lauren spent some time together (and he redeemed himself by not covering her in spit up).

20140531-225916-82756857.jpg

After dinner, we got some final pictures of the cousins together. Emily joined us for the day and has a beautiful face full of stickers complements of Samantha and myself.

20140531-225917-82757060.jpg

We had such a fun visit with everyone and we’re bummed that we have to leave them. Hopefully we’ll see you soon. Thanks for such a fun visit!

Family, Family, and More Family!

Story told by Henry

We are lucky to have some great family! Our visit prompted quite the get together. Family members came from Texas and parts of the Midwest for a fun get together!

20140531-214654-78414096.jpg

After we went to Purina Pet Farms on Friday, we took naps and then headed over to Uncle Dave and Aunt Kaye’s house for a fun get together. Lainey loved petting the dog.

20140531-214227-78147402.jpg

Aunt Mary Ellen and Ellen brought presents for me and Lainey (although Lainey opened all of our presents).

20140531-214654-78414846.jpg

A Cardinals hat!!

20140531-214655-78415138.jpg

And glasses!

20140531-214655-78415429.jpg

A full Cardinals outfit! Lainey loved it so much that she had to put it on right away.

20140531-214840-78520663.jpg

Thank you so much for the great clothes (they gave me some great Cardinals clothes as well, but we didn’t get any pictures)!

20140531-214841-78521229.jpg

While we waited for dinner to be done, I hung out with Jennifer. She says she isn’t a kid person, so I did my best to win her over. I’m pretty sure it worked.

20140531-214843-78523077.jpg

I also spent some time with Uncle Dave. He sure looks like he’s ready to be a grandpa!

20140531-222026-80426241.jpg

Grandma and Lainey worked on a puzzle (while still sporting her Cardinal gear).

20140531-214842-78522480.jpg

Grandpa, Aunt Mary Ellen, and Uncle Dave waiting for the meat to be done. Uncle Dave is an EXPERT at cooking meat. He’s been working for the past three days to make tonight’s dinner of brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. Yum, yum, yum!!

20140531-215106-78666188.jpg

Lauren wanted to get in on loving me.

20140531-215106-78666484.jpg

I repaid the favor by dousing her in spit up. (This picture was perfectly timed. Notice it dripping down her elbow.)

20140531-215106-78666781.jpg

Mommy’s cousin, Catie, arrived with her daughter, Samantha. Samantha and Lainey were some crazy girls who had lots of fun together.

20140531-215107-78667085.jpg

Uncle Dave also made some DELICIOUS carrot cake (or so I hear), so Lainey dug in and devoured it!

20140531-215208-78728222.jpg

Then it was time for some pictures. They tried one with the younger kids. As you’ll see in the pictures, I got a little less amused as time went on.

20140531-215208-78728571.jpg

20140531-215209-78729270.jpg

20140531-215208-78728921.jpg

Enough kisses. I’m done.

20140531-215209-78729630.jpg

Grandpa with his siblings, Mary Ellen, Cathy, and Dave.

20140531-215314-78794396.jpg

The siblings with Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Steck.

20140531-215313-78793269.jpg

The whole family with spouses (except for Uncle Mike…we missed you!).

20140531-215313-78793797.jpg

Mommy with some of her cousins, Catie, Lauren, Jennifer, Ellen, and Nicky. After family pictures, we went back to the motor home and fell sleep instantly. Such a fun day!

Purina Farms

Story told by Lainey

We went to Purina Farms today (which is just outside of St. Louis). This was one of Mommy’s favorite places to go when she was growing up.

20140530-134711-49631131.jpg

We got to see lots of animals. I did okay with them as long as we didn’t get too close.

20140530-134710-49630794.jpg

20140530-134811-49691429.jpg20140530-134811-49691120.jpg

We met a bunch of family members at the farm. Mommy’s cousin, Jennifer, and my great Aunt Mary Ellen showed me how to pet the sheep. There was no way I was going to do that, but I appreciate their effort.

20140530-134812-49692012.jpg

I was quite interested in this bunny. He didn’t seem to share my enthusiasm.

20140530-135035-49835444.jpg

I had fun watching the pigs. They were going crazy. My favorite part was when they went to the bathroom. I just couldn’t believe it.

20140530-135035-49835121.jpg

Henry and Mommy hung out together. He didn’t quite appreciate the farm like I did.

20140530-135036-49836179.jpg

Mommy with her cousins, Jennifer (who just moved home from Boston two days ago) and Ellen (who is visiting from Texas for a few days). The whole family got together so they could see me (and maybe they wanted to meet Henry and see each other as well).

20140530-135035-49835770.jpg

I really did enjoy myself, but there were just enough new things that I didn’t let go of Grandma’s hand for the first 30 minutes.

20140530-135213-49933547.jpg

After I warmed up to everyone, I got pretty attached to Ellen. She spent LOTS of time with me. Mommy kept asking Ellen if she was doing okay, but why wouldn’t she be?! She was spending time with the cutest girl!

20140530-135213-49933884.jpg

I quickly made Mommy’s cousins my new best friends.

20140530-135214-49934211.jpg

Waiting for the dog show to start. I LOVED the dog show!

20140530-135214-49934529.jpg

Henry didn’t seem quite as fascinated.

20140530-135319-49999702.jpg

We went on a fun wagon ride. We heard thunder in the distance, so we did this just in time!

20140530-135320-50000098.jpg

I kept talking about a hat, so my great Aunt Mary Ellen agreed to buy my poor, neglected self a hat. However, as soon as I tried on the hat, I found something else that I needed. I just had to have it.

20140530-135320-50000432.jpg

It was a ladybug coin purse!

20140530-135320-50000986.jpg

It was the perfect end to a great morning! Thanks Aunt Mary Ellen!

Henry’s Baptism

Story told by Henry

While we were in Tacoma this weekend, I got baptized at Na Na and Ba Ba’s church.

Lainey and I wore our nicest clothes.

DSC02853

I’m looking quite handsome!

DSC02851

My sister came to hang out with me. She was giving me lots of hugs and kisses.

I was the center of attention at church.

Thankful for this symbol of membership in God’s family.

DSC02875

Family picture. The stunned looks on the face of me and my sister is indicative of the short naps we’ve taken the past few days.

DSC02880

Great Grandma Jackie, Great Aunt Penny, and Great Uncle Bob all came to my baptism, so they came to Na Na’s house for lunch afterwards.

DSC02881

I didn’t want to miss out on the fun by napping, so Aunt Penny kept me happy.

When Great Grandma wasn’t busy dancing around the house with Lainey, she spent some time with me.

A Day On Whidbey Island

Story told by Lainey

We drove to Tacoma on Friday to visit Ba Ba and Na Na. It was Na Na’s birthday, so it was fun to celebrate with her! On Saturday we went to visit Boona (Na Na’s mom) on Whidbey Island.

20140524-212032-76832045.jpgBefore we got on the ferry, we spent some time checking out the water.

20140524-212032-76832678.jpg

20140524-212032-76832985.jpg

Then it was time to get on the ferry. I LOVED the “big boat!” Na Na and I ran all over together!

20140524-212033-76833284.jpg

We also waved at other boats. I sure hope they saw me!

20140524-212033-76833883.jpg

Daddy and Henry were all smiles!

20140524-212203-76923786.jpg

When we got to Boona’s house, we spent some time outside. I had to get a lot of my wiggles out!

20140524-212204-76924090.jpg

Ba Ba and I went up and down the stairs. Over and over and over again.

20140524-212203-76923480.jpg

Boona spent some time visiting with Henry. Small Boona makes big Henry look even bigger!

20140524-212204-76924813.jpg

We had some delicious cake to celebrate Na Na’s birthday.

20140524-212205-76925164.jpg

I gobbled it right up!

20140524-212205-76925497.jpg

Such a yummy lunch!

20140524-212415-77055418.jpg

After lunch, Boona had some fun toys for me!

20140524-212415-77055077.jpg

20140524-212415-77055733.jpg

After Henry woke up from his nap, he spent some more time with Boona. They had a great time together!

It was a long day of traveling, but it was worth it! I couldn’t stop talking about the ferry. It made my day!

2014 Pac-12 Track & Field Championships

Story told by Lainey

DSC02825

WSU was the host of the 2014 Pac-12 Track & Field Championships today! We wanted to see some great athletes, so we headed to campus to cheer them on (especially the Cougar athletes).

DSC02808

We were decked out in our favorite Cougar gear. My squeaky Cougar shoes received quite a bit of attention.

DSC02810

Daddy held me up high so I could see the long jump happening in the middle of the field.

DSC02812

Every time Mommy tried to take a picture of me today, I said, “No, Mommy, no.” She is pretty tricky, though, so she managed to sneak in a few pictures.

DSC02816

Henry spent some time watching the events as well.

DSC02817

DSC02819

I spent a good amount of the day climbing on the bleachers and running around (which meant there were also a few head bonks and skinned knees).

DSC02821

Henry hung out with Daddy for awhile before falling asleep. He tried to stay awake for as long as possible, though, so he wouldn’t miss anything.

DSC02823

The “munners” (runners) went right past our seats. The races were my favorite part!!

DSC02827

When the munners came by, I would stop whatever I was doing to watch them. Maybe that will be me some day!

A Great Day in Spokane!

Story told by Lainey

We wanted to have a fun day as a family, so Daddy took the day off from work and we headed up to Spokane to visit some friends!

DSC02751

We started out bright and early with a visit to Amy and Tyler! Mommy used to teach with Amy in Pullman, but she moved to Spokane awhile ago. Tyler was born at the end of March, so this was our first chance to meet him!

DSC02747

Tyler is a spitting image of his daddy!

DSC02752

There was not nearly enough time to visit, but Mommy and Amy made the most of their time!

DSC02755

Henry and Tyler spent some time hanging out together. Hopefully this is the start of a great friendship!

DSC02757

Mommy spent some time with Tyler, while…

DSC02758

Amy spent some time with Henry.

DSC02759

I even got in on the baby-holding action. Such a great morning, and we’re so grateful that Amy welcomed us into her home!

DSC02761

After we left Amy’s house, we headed to the downtown Red Robin to meet Hilary (mommy’s friend from high school) and Paxton for lunch.

DSC02762

While Mommy and Hilary had fun talking, Daddy and I entertained one another.

DSC02763

DSC02764

Paxton’s favorite part of lunch was eating ketchup with his hands. Hmmm…I haven’t tried this yet, but he gave me some great ideas! Paxton is going to have a little brother in August, so he’ll be able to pass on these ideas to him as well.

DSC02767

After a fun lunch, we enjoyed the beautiful day by playing in River Park Square for awhile.

photo6

A stranger offered to come paint a strawberry on my arm. Naturally Mommy and Daddy didn’t question it at all. Of course!

photo5

I was thrilled that the strawberry matched my shorts!!

DSC02770

photo1_1

DSC02774

I was SO EXCITED to see a giant red wagon. While I’m fairly happy with the red wagon that Grandma and Grandpa bought for me, I can’t help but wonder why they didn’t buy this one for me.

DSC02776

Mommy and I climbed up to the top of the wagon.

DSC02779

Then I went down the slide over and over and over again. That means that Mommy went up and down the stairs over and over and over again. I’m sure she loved it.

DSC02781

Spent lots of time watching the ducks and geese.

DSC02783

DSC02789

Gotta love this curly mane of hair!

DSC02792

Spent some time near the fountains, but it wasn’t quite warm enough to get soaking wet.

DSC02795

Mommy convinced me to touch the water, and then I ran away crying. I obviously wasn’t ready for such a big step.

photo

After our fun downtown, we went to visit Jessica and Jason. On the drive to their house, I took a LONG four-minute nap, so I was nice and refreshed for our evening with them.

DSC02800

Jason is going to be a daddy in September, so he got in some practice with spit-up-covered Henry.

DSC02799

Hanging out with Daddy.

DSC02801

Jessica and Mommy spent time lounging on the deck while the real fun happened out in the yard.

DSC02802

DSC02803

Beautiful Jessica! She is almost 22 weeks pregnant. I can’t wait to meet the baby boy or girl in September. After some fun time outside, they made a delicious dinner for us. We had so much fun with them and are so thankful they had us over! I slept ALL of the way home. Such a fun day!
