A Glimpse of Our Week

Story told by Henry

We have been quite busy this week!

DSC02017

My sister and I spent some time together on my playmat.

DSC02019

Thank goodness Mommy was around because Lainey was insistent on shoving this bottle in my mouth. Oh my.

DSC02023

Lainey was also insistent that she climb in the toy with me. Mommy narrowly saved me from having my sister land on my face.

DSC02027

Lainey wanted her babies to play as well. Can you find me?

DSC02031

DSC02033

DSC02037

I don’t have any personal space. Ever.

DSC02043

I also stayed busy with tummy time. That’s quite a bit of work, but someone has to do it.

DSC02047

DSC02051

Lainey had her friend, Stella, over to play. Man, those girls can make some noise!

photo 1

Her friend, Kate, also came over. They spent some time bonding while on the potty.

DSC02052

Lainey has a tradition of hiding before her bath each night. This has been her new hiding spot for the past few nights. Hmmm…it’s amazing that Daddy has been able to find her.

DSC02055

I’m five weeks old now, but I’m in three-month clothes. I’m growing, growing, growing!

DSC02057

Daddy and I often hang out in the early morning while Mommy takes a quick shower. Notice how alert I am and how tired Daddy looks. I LOVE spending time with Mommy and Daddy at all hours of the night, but for some reason I get the feeling that they don’t get quite the same enjoyment from it.

DSC02065

Lainey had fun getting gussied up in her pretty, purple tutu.

DSC02066

She loved twirling in her dress. She would spin so much that she would fall over. That doesn’t seem too smart to me, but hey…whatever floats her boat.

DSC02062

DSC02067

Mommy and Lainey also (once again) attempted playdough this week.

DSC02074

And while it was fun for awhile, it (once again) abruptly ended when Lainey attempted to eat playdough for the umpteenth time.

DSC02071

This has been Mommy’s view of me for most of this week as she’s been “wearing” me in the ERGO a lot.

DSC02072

Mommy says I’m being fussy. I just say that I want to be close with my sweet, caring Mommy.

DSC02073

How could you not want to be near this face every second of every day?!

My Two Year Checkup

Story told by Lainey

I had my two year checkup with Dr. Mike today. While driving to his office, I kept exclaiming, “Dotor Mite…Dotor Mite (Dr Mike)!”

DSC01995

When you’re a big two-year-old, you don’t have to lay down on the scale anymore. You get to stand on the big girl scale.

DSC01996

You also get to stand against the wall to have your height measured.

Here are my stats from the first part of my visit:

Height: 2 feet, 11.25 inches (80th percentile)

Weight: 29 pounds, 7 oz (80th percentile)

Head Circumference: 20.5 inches (greater than 95th percentile)…Yep, I still have a huge head!

DSC01998

After my measurements, I had a snack and waited for Dr. Mike.

DSC01999

When Dr. Mike came in, he gave me the choice of sitting on the table or Mommy’s lap. I was a brave girl and chose the table (as long as I could bring my snack with me).

DSC02000

I always have fun with Dr. Mike.

DSC02001

I opened up wide for Dr. Mike to look in my mouth. Any time Mommy asks me to do this I attempt to bite off her fingers, but for Dr. Mike, I was obviously perfect.

DSC02003

Before Dr. Mike left, he gave me an Elmo sticker, which I loved!

DSC02005

After Dr. Mike left, the nurse came back in to give me two pokes, one in my finger and one in my thigh. I was a very brave girl and only cried a little with the shot in my thigh. (Here I am showing Mommy the Band-Aid on my finger.)

DSC02007

As you can see, I’m quite tall. Dr. Mike said there are multiple ways to estimate my height as an adult. One way would be to double my two-year-old height, which would give me an estimated adult height of about 5’11”. Another way is to average the height of my parents and subtract 1/2-inch (if I were a boy, I would add 1/2-inch). That would give me an estimated adult height of 5’10”. Either way, it looks like I’m going to continue to be one tall girl!

DSC02012

I’m happy to have a clean bill of health! I (hopefully) won’t be back to the doctor’s office for another year!

Spring is Here!

Story told by Henry

We had some nice, sunny weather today so we went to the park. Mommy and Daddy kept telling me how much fun it would be.

DSC01912

When we got there, Lainey went on the slide.

DSC01913

She played on the playground.

DSC01921

And she ran around.

DSC01923

And while Lainey did these fun amazing things that I had heard all about, I slept in my car seat.

DSC01917

Still sleeping in my car seat.

DSC01915

Going into the barn in my car seat (while sleeping).

DSC01925

Walking around the park, in my car seat, sleeping. Hmmm…not sure this park thing is all it’s cracked up to be.

DSC01928

More pictures of my big sister playing on the playground.

DSC01929

DSC01930

Daddy also got in on the fun.

DSC01950

DSC01946

And don’t mind me…I’m just here still sleeping.

DSC01933

DSC01936

Daddy and Lainey had lots of fun climbing all over the playground.

DSC01941

And lots of jumping!

DSC01951

DSC01954

Daddy did some pull-ups, so Lainey wanted to do the same (although she needed a little assistance).

DSC01955

Daddy showed Lainey a bar that was more her size.

DSC01958

Holding herself up off of the ground!

DSC01962

Daddy was momentarily stuck, so Lainey went to assist.

DSC01965

Mommy and I went on a walk around the park. I was so excited to see that Daddy and Lainey were on their way to join us.

DSC01967

But then Lainey turned around to go back to the playground. Oh great. I guess I’ll just go back to sleep.

DSC01974

DSC01975

We had been at the park for awhile, so Daddy and Lainey took a quick nap on the slide to rest…

DSC01970

…and then they got to play for a few more minutes before we went home.

DSC01981

DSC01990

After all of this time at the park, my sister FINALLY noticed me.

DSC01979

She yelled out, “Hello Henry? Hello?”

DSC01993

At Lainey’s request, I got to go up and enjoy the playground. It’s about time.

DSC01994

We eventually had to leave, which was a bummer, but I’m glad I got to go up on the play structure with my sister. Next time I’ll do my best to wake up and have more fun on the playground.

Adventures with Grandma and Grandpa

Story told by Lainey

Grandma and Grandpa have been here all week and we’ve had lots of fun together!

DSC01836

The chicks hatched at The Grange (the local farm supply store), so we all went to check them out!

DSC01838

DSC01839

I was brave enough to touch one of the chicks!

DSC01840

DSC01844

DSC01847

DSC01860

Grandma and Grandpa bought the movie “Frozen” for me and Henry to watch (and Mommy seemed pretty darn excited about it as well).

DSC01851

My friend, Ivy, came over to watch it with us!

DSC01852

We didn’t watch much of the movie, though, and ended up having fun playing with my toys (including this cool car that Grandma and I made earlier in the week).

DSC01857

We (of course) spent lots of time loving on my little brother. He doesn’t always appreciate my affection, though.

DSC01858

DSC01867

On the days where the weather was nice, we went for walks and spent lots of time at the playground.

DSC01868

And like a good mommy, I brought my baby with me everywhere!

DSC01874

Grandma bought me some pretty clips for my hair. Grandma helped to put them in my hair so I could look extra beautiful!

DSC01875

Checking out my hair. Man, I look good!

DSC01879

DSC01890

DSC01896

Thanks Grandma for attempting to tame my mess of curly hair!

DSC01897

And more snuggling with Henry!

DSC01900

Notice that just like Mommy, I’m prepared with a burp cloth over my shoulder. This kid is messy.

DSC01908

DSC01911

We also took a trip to Old European for some delicious breakfast food! This is a “must do” every time Grandma and Grandpa visit.

I’m sad to say that Grandma and Grandpa have to leave tomorrow. I’ve had such a fun week with them, and I’m glad that they got to meet my little brother. I’ll miss them so much and can’t wait to see them again!

St. Patrick’s Day, 2014

Story told by Lainey

We had a fun St. Patrick’s Day today! We started out by going to Bonkerz.

DSC01761

Grandpa and I had fun pushing our babies around in the shopping carts.

DSC01751

We met our friends Clara and Kate at Bonkerz.

DSC01756

I had fun pushing Kate around in the firetruck.

DSC01766

Grandma and I spent lots of time pushing strollers. She has some great stroller-pushing skills.

DSC01770

DSC01765

While I played with Grandma, Grandpa, Kate, and Clara, Jennisa and Mommy got to relax on the couch with the babies. Baby Annie is Clara and Kate’s little sister. She is just a few days younger than Henry.

DSC01772

After my nap, Mommy had some fun St. Patrick’s Day crafts planned. The first craft involved Fruit Loops.

DSC01775

I helped Grandma for about two minutes…

DSC01776

…and then I decided that it was snack time.

DSC01777

DSC01787

So, this turned into Grandma’s craft. It was a win-win situation…I got to eat and Grandma got to do my craft for me.

DSC01792

DSC01800

DSC01801

DSC01804

Look at our masterpiece! Thanks for being my assistant, Grandma!

DSC01807

Next we got to make a shamrock out of my footprints.

DSC01810

DSC01814

About halfway through the project, Mommy forgot how the shamrock/footprint picture was supposed to look.

DSC01818

So the shamrock ended up looking quite unique and not at all like a shamrock. Oh well! I still had fun putting my feet in paint!

Evan and Brendan’s Birthday Party

Story told by Lainey

Today Mommy, Henry, and I went to Evan and Brendan’s birthday party (while Daddy and Grandpa made a trip to Home Depot).

DSC01711

I was so glad to have my friend, Ivy, there! We started out by doing a little coloring.

DSC01712

Then the highlight of the party arrived…a firetruck!

DSC01713

There was also an ambulance there!

DSC01717

Ivy and her mommy enjoyed checking out the firetruck.

DSC01720

I, on the other hand, was NOT going outside. Mommy could barely convince me to look out the window.

DSC01723

I was clearly the life of the party.

DSC01726

The coloring table.

DSC01722

While Mommy and I hung out, Grandma spent time with Henry.

DSC01727

Singing “Happy Birthday” to Brendan and Evan.

DSC01734

We got to enjoy some delicious cupcakes from Sweet Mutiny. Yum!

DSC01735

DSC01741

DSC01746

It was fun to get to celebrate Evan’s second birthday!

DSC01747

Evan and his ladies! Thanks for a fun party!

Mommy’s 29th Birthday

Story told by Lainey

Mommy turned 29 yesterday! It was an extra special day because Grandma and Grandpa arrived last night, so they were here to celebrate with us.

DSC01643

Grandpa got up early and got to spend some time with Henry.

DSC01644

Naturally we kicked off Mommy’s birthday with presents for me and Henry.

DSC01648

DSC01652

My new Minnie shirt from Grandma and Grandpa’s recent trip to Florida. I love it!

DSC01654

Reading Henry’s new books with Grandpa. I’ll break them in so they’re ready to go for Henry (because that’s what a good sister does).

DSC01656

Tummy time with Henry and Grandpa.

DSC01657

Covering them with blankets to make sure they’re comfortable.

DSC01659

Henry’s hat didn’t quite fit Grandpa, but that sure didn’t stop me from trying to get it on his head.

DSC01660

Before dinner, we went to a book store. As another way to celebrate Mommy’s birthday, Grandma and Grandpa bought me a pinwheel. I know seeing me happy makes Mommy happy, so it’s almost like a present for Mommy.

DSC01664

DSC01666

We had a delicious dinner at La Casa Lopez!

DSC01667

DSC01670

DSC01672

When we got home, I had to go to bed, but Henry got to stay up to watch Mommy open presents. Not exactly fair if you ask me.

DSC01673

DSC01677

DSC01680

Time to open presents!

DSC01681

Grandma and Grandpa had some great presents for Mommy. These presents included earrings, decorations for the guest room, and more pieces for Mommy’s nativity set for Christmas.

DSC01688

Daddy also got some great presents for Mommy. They included this Cougar t-shirt and a massage.

DSC01703

Grandma, Grandpa, and Henry hanging out after presents were opened.

DSC01704

DSC01706

After presents it was time to cut the delicious cake from Baskin Robbins. (I find it a little upsetting that they wait to eat this until after I’ve gone to bed. What the heck?! I’ll have to be sure to find time to sneak a taste of this at some point.)

DSC01709

The cake was a yummy treat to end Mommy’s fun day. She had a great day being with her family. Happy Birthday, Mommy!
